Starry Night is my 2nd ode to Vincent van Gogh. (Diovadiova Chrome Karyn (van Gogh) is the first.) When I paint, I feel connected to artists of the past… especially when I’m going through challenging times. In Starry Night, I felt Vincent’s sacrifices and heartache with each brushstroke. Don McLean’s Vincent played over and over in my mind:
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
