Diovadiova Chrome Scarification Kip IV was a study for a series of self-portraits. I was exploring the African tradition (specifically the Igbo people of Nigeria) of adorning one’s face with scars. Although, I only scarred my mask for the painting, I felt a visceral reaction to cutting my own face. It was exhilarating and scary.
